Admissions Procedure

ICSU offers a challenging college-preparatory curriculum focused on developing a passion for truth, a commitment to excellence, and an appreciation for diversity. We eagerly welcome families who are like-minded and seeking this type of educational experience for their children.  

We are excited about your interest in joining our community here at International Christian School Uijeongbu. Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024-2025 school year, and the steps here will inform you about how to apply.

How to Apply

We follow a rolling admission process based on space available. Students applying for early childhood classes (PreK-1) must be of grade level age by August 31 of the academic year of entrance. Students applying from schools with calendar year school years (i.e., January or February until November or  December) will be considered for admission to the grade that extends their current school year. ICSU does not host exchange students, offer boarding school services, or sponsor student visas. Valid eligibility documents must be updated every year during re-enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

Category 1: Non-Korean

Both Parents hold non-Korean passports and are not ethnically Korean.

Documents Needed:

  • Front and back copies of valid Alien Registration Card, Diplomatic ID, SOFA, Domestic residence card

Category 2: Korean Ethnic

One or both parents hold non-Korean passports and one or both parents are ethnically Korean.

Documents Needed:

  • Front and back copies of valid Alien Registration Card, Diplomatic ID, SOFA, Domestic residence card

  • Recent Korean Family Registry under the applicant’s name or Deleted Family Census Registry

Category 3: Korean Citizens

Student of both parents are Korean citizens or dual citizens may apply if your child has met the three-year (1095 days) or six semesters requirement.

Documents Needed:

  • Recent Certificate of the Facts Concerning the Entry and Exit for the applicant
    • The Certificate issued should be inclusive from birth to the present date
    • If an applicant has dual citizenship, a certificate for each passport is required
  • Recent Korean Family Registry under the applicant’s name

Acceptance Criteria

ICSU admits students based primarily on the following requirements:

  • Grades earned on Current and Previous Report Cards
  • High-Quality Behavioral and Academic References
  • Fulfillment of Korean citizenship eligibility requirements as applicable
  • All students applying for grades 2-12 will be tested using the internationally recognized MAP Test (Measures of Academic Progress). Student scores must be at a level that will enable them to be successful in our academic program.  
  • All students PreK-12 must pass a screening process to determine English proficiency and their potential to meet ICSU’s curricular and academic expectations.

    • Meet with the Director.
  • Consider scheduling a Student Shadow Day, Grades 6th -12th (recommended; not available during summer).

ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE

  • An application (one per student) must be submitted for all students who desire to attend ICSU
  • The following documents must be submitted with the completed application:
    • Completed Student Packet (one per student)
    • Transcript/Report Card from previous school (recent 3 years)
    • Immunization Records
    • Birth Certificate
    • Copy of Passports (student and both parents)
    • Certificate of Entry and Exit (Korean students)
    • Alien Card or Residence Card (foreigners - parents)
    • Standardized Test Results (Achievement tests, previous MAP scores, SAT/ PSAT, etc.)
    • Payment of Application Processing Fee
  • Intake testing (MAP test) will be administered to each new applicant to determine appropriate placement for classes and any needed Assisted Learning programs
  • Meet with the Principal
  • English Language Development testing (if applicable) will be administered to select applicants to assess academic and English proficiency and appropriate fit for ICSU.
  • Meet with the Business Manager
  • Upon approval, parents are informed of the student’s acceptance. The decision/evaluation process for admission is typically completed within a week. Conditions or probationary status may be required for acceptance.
  • Required at time of enrollment after acceptance
  • Enrollment will be considered complete for that school year when all of the above steps have been finalized and all necessary paperwork has been submitted.

Once Enrolled

  • Purchase school uniforms
  • Create class schedule (Secondary students only)
  • Locker assignment
  • Set up Eagle account/Bible
  • Transportation Information (if applicable)

Instructions: The PDF form can be downloaded, printed, filled out by hand, and then hand delivered to ICSU. Depending on your Web browser, type of computer/software, and other technical issues, it may be possible to type your entries directly on the PDF form, after downloading it onto your computer, and then print onto paper for being hand delivered. It might also be possible to download the form on your computer, type your entries directly on the PDF form, save the form as a file, and then send it as an email attachment to admissions@icsu.kr
